5 ASSESSMENT, MODERATION & CERTIFICATION Assessments are conducted by the facilitator, Erica Heunis, whilst internal moderation will be handled by Mauritz Bekker (Assessor and Moderator Number: ). External moderation and certification are done by SBS. Assessments are in the form of ten assignments, one for each module. The marks allocated to the assignments, are based on the following criteria: THEORY 30% PRACTICAL APPLICATION 100% 60% 10% PRESENTATION Rags to Riches Reward WORK HARD IN SILENCE, LET YOUR SUCCESS BE YOUR NOISE The Wiese family are benefactors of our program. 6 CURRICULUM & OUTCOMES Purpose Objectives of the Program Provide a detailed description of the main purpose objectives of the program Empower participants with entrepreneurial, business and leadership skills in order to (a) identify and implement new business concepts in practice, and (b) develop and manage a new business or new business unit. 7 Overall outcome of the programme At the end of the program, the participants will 1. Interpret changes in the external business environment. 2. Discover and formulate new business concepts. 3. Assess new business concepts for feasibility and viability. 4. Generate a competitive advantage for a business and/or new business concept. 5. Design market research projects and build a marketing strategy. 6. Optimize production/operations out-put and minimize costs. 7. Respond to labor legislation and create an organizational culture where employees can develop and contribute to business competitiveness and growth.. Develop financial management systems. 9. Develop leadership and business administration abilities in self and in others. 10. Integrate knowledge and information to create a business plan/case. FEASIBILITY & VIABILITY RESEARCH - Discuss the importance of entrepreneurial ability in financial success and economic growth. - Explain a self-discovery process. - Produce a mission and vision for a business and/or new business concept. - Explain the value of paradigms and discuss techniques to shift old vested paradigms which could be barriers to innovation. - Produce possible new business concepts. - Explain how to develop creative and innovative abilities. - Explain a new business concept in terms of talents and abilities. - Judge the feasibility of a new business concept. - Select viable target markets. - Design a market research process and evaluate customer needs. - Determine the sales potential of selected target markets. - Prepare a sales forecast and justify sales estimates. - Estimate and assess the costs involved, as well as the income potential, of a new business concept. - Estimate potential revenue, as well as costs and create a cash flow forecast for a new business concept. - Calculate the capital requirements and break-even point of a new business concept. - Estimate the viability/feasibility of a new business concept.
