1 New Hope Biblical Counseling BIBLE COLLEGE CURRICULUM KIT for Pastoral Counseling The low success rate of many counseling methods is seen in the endless cycling of their clients. Symptoms are only the outward manifestations of inward problems and only by eliminating the root causes can true and lasting healing come. We at New Hope Ministry have a deep burden to help train and equip Pastors and Christian Workers before they get out into their fields of service. Our ministry began as a Biblical Counseling Center in which we saw first hand the devastation brought on by an enemy who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. We ve put together a counseling program that gives new hope for repairing shattered lives. We must remember that even people in ministry are susceptible to the same kinds of problems. How many Pastors and Christian Workers in general don t last in ministry? How many end up disillusioned, beat up, experience major family problems, or become laden with sickness or disease? It breaks our hearts to hear stories of Pastors and Christian Workers who have been forced to leave the ministry because of bizarre health problems, financial hardships, confusing family problems, etc. Much of this is due to a lack of knowledge about the enemy they are going head to head with. They can become victims because of a lack of knowledge. God says in His Word, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). The Pastors and Christian Workers you are training for ministry need to know the strategies of the enemy they are facing and how to protect themselves and their families from the attempted onslaught of that enemy. We believe with all of our hearts that the New Hope Program should be required curriculum for every Student before leaving Bible College. They need to be fully equipped to deal with the satanic opposition they will face. By going through this program themselves first, they are also then fully equipped to help the people they are going to minister to. The percentage rate is staggering of Pastors who do not do counseling. The majority of Pastors tell us that they feel totally unequipped to do counseling. Some Bible Colleges don t even offer counseling courses. One of the reasons is due to the notion that counseling has to be done on issues. The New Hope Biblical Counseling Program is different. We do not counsel on issues. Most counseling wastes so much time traveling thousands of miles down endless roads, that usually wind in circles, searching for the root of the person s problem. Whereas, the New Hope Biblical Counseling Program leads a person through a set Scriptural system that covers the main root problems of all issues. If all the roots are properly dealt with first, the issues tend to disappear along the away. Then we continue the process of renewing the mind: identifying wrong thinking, rejecting lies, and replacing them with truth. Biblical Principles are powerful when they are obeyed and applied.

2 We have developed a counseling guide on these Biblical Principles which cover the main root problems that are common to all other problems. We have found that many experts agree; emotional, relational, and spiritual problems all seem to stem from one or more of these eight main roots. We deal with the roots, not issues in counseling. Then a healthy root system can be developed, being firmly rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, (Colossians 2:7), with roots of freedom, forgiveness, humility, submission, and a belief system based on the truth of God s Word. The New Hope materials have been put into a Handbook form with notes to the Counselor and step-by-step instructions of exactly what to do and say to lead a person through the program from start to finish. This is what makes it very trainable. Anyone can be trained to lead a person through the counseling materials by just following the Handbook. Another unique aspect of our program is that the Counselee receives handouts of everything that is covered each session. This provides them with a complete Counselee Handbook to be able to refer to at any point in their lives a tool that helps bring about lasting change. By teaching the New Hope Counseling Program in a class in your Bible College or Seminary, you would be putting your Students through the program to first apply it personally, using the New Hope Counselor Handbook, while at the same time equipping them to counsel others. The program begins with letting you know that you are a child of the King and ends with you having become a warrior of the King. There is a difference between a soldier and a warrior. A soldier serves out of duty. A warrior serves out of devotion. What could happen in our churches and in our world if we were equipping and sending out warriors of the King? That is our mission and our ministry to bring hope and healing as we lead people to the Savior, the great Healer, the Wonderful Counselor, and to train up and equip warriors of the King. Establishes the intimate, personal relationship with our Heavenly Father that He desires for us to have and enjoy, and corrects any distorted thinking we may have about Him. Phase II: Freedom Further establishes who we are in Christ and what that means. Makes clear the basis for our power and authority in Christ. Covers Biblical Principles dealing with the main root problems from which all other problems stem. It produces a desire to serve, and trains people up and equips them to serve. As a minister trying to meet people s needs in Christ, one of the most important things is God s Word. Through New Hope and their material, lives are being reached and changed. All through Seminary and Bible College I never came across material that affected a person s spiritual life as this material does. The material allows for progressive life changing counseling and a guidance program focusing not on man s word but on God s Word. I have been using this material for many years and have personally seen the program change lives with problems of sexual impurity, drug abuse, spousal abuse, homosexuality, and the lost accepting Christ. Jesus Christ called me to see the captives set free. In our counseling program now, using these materials, we have a waiting list. We are seeing tremendous results. There are incredible moments of deliverance that happens in people s lives as they go through this. We are also using this program in our church as Basic Leadership 101.
