Frank Mr. Frank has won millions of dollars for consumers and shareholders in objections through the non-profit Center for Class Action Fairness, which he founded in Frank has argued and won several landmark appellate cases protecting consumers from unfair class action settlements through both the Center and his solo practice. Frank graduated from the University of Chicago Law School, and clerked for Frank H. Easterbrook on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

10 Judge Paul Friedman Judge Friedman was appointed United States District Judge for the District of Columbia in August Earlier in his career he served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1970 to 1974, and as an Assistant to the Solicitor General of the United States from 1974 to Judge Friedman practiced law as an associate and partner with White & Case from 1976 until 1994.

11 Daniel Girard Daniel C. Girard is the founder and managing partner of Girard Gibbs LLP. He has successfully represented plaintiffs in a range of class actions and other complex litigation including securities, corporate governance, consumer protection, antitrust, telecommunications, and civil rights. Mr. Girard was appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to serve two terms on the United States Judicial Conference s Advisory Committee on Civil Rules.

13 Deborah Hensler Deborah R. Hensler's empirical research on dispute resolution, complex litigation, class actions and mass tort liability has won international recognition. A political scientist and public policy analyst who was the director of the RAND Corporation's Institute for Civil Justice before joining the Stanford Law School faculty, she has testified before state and federal legislatures on issues ranging from alternative dispute resolution to asbestos litigation and mass torts and consulted with judges and lawyers outside of the United States on the design of class action regimes. Professor Hensler is the organizer of the StanfordGlobalization of Class Actions Exchange, which is spearheading international research on class actions and mass litigation, and the coeditor of the recently published volume The Globalization of Class Actions.

14 David Herr David Herr is an experienced lawyer at Maslon LLP in Minneapolis, where he heads the firm s appellate practice. He has represented plaintiffs, defendants, and objectors in class actions, in the trial and appellate courts. He has served as Special Master in several class actions, including the Minnesota Microsoft Antitrust case. He co-authors The Federal Litigator newsletter and annotates the Federal Judicial Center s Manual for Complex Litigation for West/ThomsonReuters.

15 Sam Issacharoff Samuel Issacharoff is a Professor of Law at NYU Law School who has written widely on issues in civil procedure (especially complex litigation and class actions), law and economics, American and comparative constitutional law, and employment law. He served as the reporter for the Principles of the Law of Aggregate Litigation of the American Law Institute.

16 Robert Klonoff Professor Klonoff served as Dean of the Lewis & Clark Law School from As a scholar, his areas of expertise include class action litigation, civil procedure, and appellate litigation. He is also a member of the Civil Rules Advisory Committee.

17 Emery G. Lee III Emery Lee is a senior research associate at the Federal Judicial Center. Prior to joining the FJC, he was the Supreme Court Fellow at the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. From , Emery was assistant professor of political science and law at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

18 Richard Marcus Professor Marcus, is a Professor at the Hastings College of Law whose scholarship has focused on issues in civil procedure and complex litigation. Since 1996, he has served as Associate Reporter to the Advisory Committee on Civil Rules of the Judicial Conference of the U.S.

19 Francis McGovern Professor Francis McGovern is a Professor at the Duke University Law School with substantial experience as practitioner, scholar, and teacher in the field of alternative dispute resolution. He has served as a court-appointed special master or neutral expert in numerous complex cases.

20 Alan Morrison Alan Morrison is the Associate Dean for Public Interest and Public Service Law at the GW Law School. He has taught Civil Procedure and other subjects at GW and five other law schools.for many years he was a senior attorney with the Public Citizen Litigation Group.

21 Mark Perry Mark A. Perry is a litigation partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP who practice focuses on complex commercial litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. He serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center, where he teaches the upper-level course in Class Action Law and Practice.

22 Judge Richard A. Posner Mr. Posner is a judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and a senior lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School. He began law teaching at Stanford in 1968 and the following year joined the University of Chicago Law School faculty as professor of law, in which position he served until being appointed to the Seventh Circuit in He was chief judge of the court from 1993 to He has written many books and articles.

23 Judge Anthony Scirica Anthony J. Scirica is a Senior Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He became a Senior Fellow at Penn Law in 2013 and teaches courses in civil procedure and complex litigation. Judge Scirica was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 1987 and served as Chief Judge from 2003 to He has previously served as Chair of the U.S. Judicial Conference Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure, Chair of the Judicial Conference Working Group on Mass Torts, and as a member of the Advisory Committee on Civil Rules.

24 Jay Tidmarsh Jay Tidmarsh, an expert in complex civil litigation and civil procedure, joined the faculty of the Notre Dame Law School in He is the author or co-author of ten books, including casebooks in the fields of civil procedure and complex litigation, as well as numerous law review articles in the fields of civil procedure, complex litigation, federal courts, and torts.

25 Roger Trangsrud Roger Trangsrud is a Professor of Law at the GW Law School who teaches Civil Procedure and Complex Litigation and has written a number of books and articles on these subjects. He is also Director of the James F. Humphreys Complex Litigation Center which is hosting this Roundtable.

26 Brian Wolfman Brian Wolfman is a Visiting Professor of Law at Stanford Law School and Co-director of the Institute for Public Representation at Georgetown Law Center. He was for many years a senior attorney with the Public Citizen Litigation Group.
