As part of this system, we are requiring background checks on all those who serve with children and students who are minors. This check is strictly limited to criminal activity, and does not in any way check financial records such as personal credit history. The background check consists of three reports, but are not limited to,: the CP National Criminal File Plus and a Social Security trace and address locator. We want to assure you that our intent of these reports is to both protect you and those in our care. We also wish to assure you that the methods we take to protect your information are very important to us. Once the report is generated, the information on your release form and the reports are stored in a locked filing cabinet or in a secured database. We do not release this information to anyone and you are always welcomed to ask for a copy. If you should have questions, please do not hesitate to contact a Cornerstone Staff Member. Please include work, school, and other commitments: Scriptural Beliefs Because we have a significant influence in the shaping of a student s spiritual life, we believe we should agree on the basics of our Christian faith. Below is a brief statement of what our church believes and teaches. If you agree with these beliefs, please sign your name below to verify that agreement. Our beliefs about God and Scripture: The Bible, God s Word to us, is central to our relationship with God and each other. While there are some areas where sincere Christians agree to disagree [Romans 14:1-15:7; 2 Tim. 2:23-24; Titus 3:9], the Bible makes clear that certain truths are essential convictions of the Christian faith. Cornerstone Church of Hemet considers these to be the following: 1. THE BIBLE, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the verbally inspired Word of God. It is inerrant in its original writings and is the only supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and life. [John 17:4-17; 1 Cor. 14:37; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21; 1 Thess. 2:13] 2. GOD is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are equal in divine perfection and attributes, yet execute distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. [Gen. 1:26,27; 11:5-7; Deut. 6:4; 1 Chronicles 29:11, 12; Matt. 28:19] 3. JESUS CHRIST is the true God-man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and was crucified for our sins. He died, was buried, and was resurrected bodily after three days. He ascended into heaven and lives there as our High Priest and Advocate. [Matt. 1:20; Luke 1:35; John 1:1,2,14; 12:45, 14:9; Acts 1:8-11; 1 Cor. 15:4; 1 Tim. 2:5; Heb. 4:14-16, 7:25; 1 John 2:1,2 4. MAN was created in the image of God. He sinned and thereby incurred physical death and spiritual death, which is separation from God. All humans are born with a SIN NATURE. [Gen. 1:26, 27; 2:7, 15-17; 3:7; Rom. 5:12-21] 5. SALVATION is entirely of grace through the work of the Lord Jesus Christ. His death was a representative and substitutionary sacrifice for our sins. All who believe in Him are justified by His shed blood, and their salvation is ETERNALLY SECURE. [Eph. 2:8,9; 2 Tim. 1:9; Titus 3:5; Heb. 7:25] I agree with the above beliefs.
