1 AT THE SOURCE A new training and development programme for archive and library professionals working with Jewish documentary heritage within memory institutions across Europe. The National Library of Israel is the repository of national memory for Israel and the Jewish people and one of the leading sites of Jewish knowledge and civilization. The Library's Judaica Collection is among the most important collections in the world, containing a wealth of material on Judaism, the Jewish people and Jewish culture, as expressed in writing, music and art. The Collection includes primary and secondary sources in a variety of formats: manuscripts, books, periodicals, archives, ephemera and digital material. The Library is committed to the dissemination and sharing of knowledge with libraries, archives and cultural heritage institutions that collect and preserve Jewish resources. To this end, we are pleased to announce the launch of 'At the Source' a new training and development programme for archive and library professionals working with Jewish documentary heritage within memory institutions across Europe. At the Source is a core project of Gesher L'Europa, an initiative funded by the Rothschild Foundation (Hanadiv) Europe, to provide opportunities for exchange and enrichment between the National Library of Israel and European scholars, library and museum professionals, and educators working within Jewish settings. Two training courses will be held in 2015, designed for two distinct audiences, as follows: Methodology and Practice: Developing Jewish Libraries and Archives For staff responsible for Jewish archival and library materials who are familiar with the Jewish cultural context and are seeking to improve their knowledge and skills in archive or library methodologies and practices.
