1 Accreditation and State Regulatory Authorization for Online Education at the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus The University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Denver and CU Anschutz) is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges (HLC/NCA), The Higher Learning Commission is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. This federally recognized body provides assurance to students, parents and all stakeholders that CU Denver meets clear quality standards for educational and financial performance, The HLC contact information follows: Higher Learning Commission 230 South LaSalle Street, Suite 7 500, Chicago, Illinois Phone: / Fax: info@hlcommission.org The University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus online students are also encouraged to contact their Dean s office with any questions they may have related to their degree, program, course or licensure requirements. A list of the University Schools and College with contact information can be found here. Important Notes Regarding Distance Education 1. CU Denver and CU Anschutz are seeking authorization to offer its online programs in many Page 1 states. Students are advised to check this site often for periodic updates as the University is in the process of obtaining state authorization. Certain degrees, programs or certifications that lead to professional licensure are regulated by state controlled regulatory bodies (i.e. State
2 Board of Nursing). Online students intending to enroll in programs that may lead to licensure are thus strongly advised to confer with their home state board to ensure that the online program will meet that state s requirements. 2. Residents of certain states are ineligible to apply for enrollment in courses and programs delivered via distance education: CU Denver and CU Anschutz are not able to accept students who are residents of Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Massachusetts, North Carolina for enrollment in courses and programs delivered via distance education because it has not applied for or received authorization from these states to deliver courses and programs via distance education to residents of these states. CU Denver and CU Anschutz have not currently applied for or received authorization from these states because the University has determined that the administrative and other requirements to obtain and maintain authorization for its distance education courses and programs that would otherwise be delivered to residents of these states, including the fees charged by these states and the additional administrative costs associated with doing so, are disproportionately burdensome, excessive and/or prohibitive, at least at the present time. Student Complaints / Consumer Protection Disclosure All members of the CU Denver and CU Anschutz are expected to uphold standards, which include abiding by state, civil and criminal laws and all University laws, policies and standards of conduct. The University strives to make the campus community a place of study, work and residence where people are treated, and treat one another, with respect and courtesy. The University views the Student Conduct Process as a learning experience that can result in growth and personal understanding of one s responsibilities and privileges within both the University community and the greater community. If a potential violation of the University Student Conduct Code or a specific School/College Honor Code is brought to our attention, the University will take specific and appropriate action towards resolution. Students, whether online, hybrid or resident, are encouraged to exhaust all internal grievance procedures allowed for in the relevant Conduct or Honor Code. However, understanding that grievances may not always be resolved internally, please consult the following list of embedded links and contact Page 2
