Secure communication with Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union is easy, thanks to the MSGCU Secure Message Center. OVERVIEW The MSGCU Secure Message Center is a convenient and secure way to send to and receive from Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union. To get started, you must set up an account with a valid address. Once logged in, you may exchange secure encrypted with MSGCU employees. CREATING AN ACCOUNT ON THE MSGCU SECURE MESSAGE CENTER 1. Browse to the MSGCU Secure Message Center 2. At the login screen, click the Register button at the bottom of the page.

2 3. Enter your address and a strong password 4. You will receive a message in your inbox click the link provided to activate your account. 5. Once activated, you may return to the Sign In page to access the Secure Message Center.

3 RECEIVING A SECURE MESSAGE When you receive a secure message from MSGCU, a notification message is sent to your regular account with a link to the Secure Message Center. Simply click the link and log in to the Secure Message Center to read and reply to your secure message. 1. A notice arrives in your regular inbox. 2. Clicking the link opens your web browser and accesses the MSGCU Secure Message Center. 3. Act on the as you would any other message.

4 SENDING A SECURE MESSAGE To send a secure message to an MSGCU employee, simply log in to the Secure Message Center and select the Compose tab. 1. To send a general inquiry, or ask a question about a specific product, click the drop-down menu button at the right of the To: field and select the appropriate choice. 2. You may also send a message directly to a specific MSGCU employee. To do this, choose Other (enter address) from the drop-down list and enter the address in the field provided. You may include attachments as well.

5 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How long will messages be retained in the Secure Message Center? Messages will be retained for 14 days. The expiration date of each message is displayed in the Message Details page. How secure is the Secure Message Center? Messages stored in the Secure Message Center are encrypted with 168-bit triple DES encryption. Messages are viewed using secure Internet connections with high encryption. This level of encryption is considered highly secure by industry standards. What Internet browsers are recommended for use with the Secure Message Center? We recommend that you use one of the following: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7.0 or higher Mozilla Firefox version 4.0 or higher Apple Safari version 5.0 or higher What should I do if I receive an error message when I try to sign in? If the error message is about your address and/or password, make sure that you have entered your Address and Password information correctly. If you still cannot sign in, click the Forgot your password? Reset button on the Sign In page. On the Reset Password page, enter your address. Enter a Password that complies with the password rules shown, Reenter your new password and click Submit. If the error message is about something other than your address and/or password, contact Member Service Information on how to contact Member Service is located on the Sign In page of the Secure Message Center. What do I do if I forget my password or want to change my password? On the Sign In page, click the reset button next to Forgot your password?. How do I access my account if I'm locked out? After three unsuccessful sign in attempts, you will be locked out of your account for 30 minutes. If you become locked out of your account, you will be sent a notification message to the Inbox of the address you entered, while signing in, if it is a registered address. The sent to you contains information on how to change your password and unlock your account. You can always click the reset button next to Forgot your password? on the Sign In page to change your password at any time. If you need additional assistance, contact Member Service using the information on the Sign In page. Can I send large file attachments? The attachment limits, including how many files you can attach, and the maximum combined file size limit is indicated on the Attach File page. NOTE: The larger the size of each file, the longer it takes to upload or download.

6 Can other people view my secure messages? No, the Secure Message Center servers receive the messages securely and store them using 168-bit, triple DES encryption. Intended recipients must use their password to open any messages they receive, therefore no one else can view your messages. Can I get an expired message back once it is removed from my Inbox? If the message has expired and been deleted, it is no longer available. Due to the security features of the Secure Message Center, the sender of the message must re-send it to you. When a message expires, an expiration notification message is returned to the sender. You can still access the Secure Message Center from an expired message notification in your regular Inbox, but will not be able to see the expired message.
