1 ACCESSING YOUR MONEY OVERSEAS.
2 ACCESSING YOUR MONEY, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE No matter where you re going, you ll need easy, secure access to your money. Travel Money Card A prepaid MasterCard that lets you use your own money in multiple currencies at a locked-in foreign exchange rate accepted at 35 million locations worldwide. Credit Cards A range of cards accepted worldwide, with options to suit every traveller. Foreign Cash It is useful to have at least some cash in the local currency when at stopovers and when you arrive at your destination especially if you don t speak the local language. $ Debit MasterCard Accepted at over 35 million locations worldwide, a Debit MasterCard is an easy way to pay with your own money, without carrying a wallet full of cash. Travellers Cheques Accepted worldwide and with a locked in foreign exchange rate, Travellers Cheques are secure and useful in places where cards are not accepted plus they never expire so they can be used for your next trip. $ Keycard Fast access to your cash through the global MasterCard, Maestro/Cirrus and Visa Plus networks. Travel Loan Consider a Personal Loan if you need help financing your trip. With a choice of loan type, amount, tenure and repayment frequency, you can choose a loan to suit your needs. +$ Personal Overdraft A great feature of your Everyday Account that allows you to access additional funds up to an approved limit. Apply before you leave to have a financial safety net whilst you travel. C
3 Travel Checklist Whether you re taking the trip of a lifetime or it s strictly business, there s plenty to organise before you go. Here s a handy travel checklist to help you get started. Money Take a mixed wallet with a Travel Money Card, Foreign Cash, Debit MasterCard or Keycard and Credit Cards various payment options for all situations. If you have a Keycard, make sure that the Everyday Account you want to access is linked as the primary savings account. Check international fees and charges on transactions on your accounts so there are no surprises when you return. Consider a Travel Loan if you need some help financing your travels. Apply for a Personal Overdraft before you go to give you access to extra funds should any unexpected costs arise. Security Notify us before you go to avoid a temporary hold being placed on your card(s). You can do this through NetBank via the Managing your Accounts tab or drop in at a Branch. Lock, block and limit your credit card in the CommBank app or NetBank for greater control of your card when traveling. Register for NetBank and download the CommBank app so you can manage your accounts with ease while you re overseas. Increase security by setting a PIN on your Travel Money Card, Debit MasterCard or Keycard and Credit Cards. Make sure you memorise the PIN numbers before you go. If you re not taking your mobile, it s a great idea to register for a NetCode token so you can still transfer money online. Other tips Plan ahead to make sure your passport, visas and other essential documents are ready. Make photocopies and leave with a family member or keep separately in case anything goes missing. Organise Travel Insurance to protect you if the unexpected occurs. Certain CommBank credit cards offer complimentary international travel insurance. If you re taking your mobile, check with your phone company about the fees and charges you could pay for global roaming. Global roaming means that you can receive NetCode SMS while you re overseas. 1
4 Travel Money Card Holds multiple currencies at any one time perfect for when you are travelling to different countries. Lock in the foreign currency amount when you load your card so you ll always know how much you have to spend, no matter how the Australian Dollar moves. Did you know? There is no fee for reloading funds onto your cards. You can enjoy reloads made in real time by transferring money to your card from selected CommBank accounts in NetBank. Your card is protected by chip, PIN, signature and 24 hour fraud monitoring and isn t linked to your bank account so you ll have peace of mind while you travel. We give you a back-up card, so you ll still have access to your cash if your original card is lost or stolen. 9 When you re travelling The world is a big place, so there are a few things you should know while you re away. Banking from anywhere in the world You can use NetBank to: Manage your Travel Money Card: fee-free reloads, check your balance and transaction history, lock and unlock your card, change your PIN. Apply for an increase to your credit card limit. Check your CommBank account balances. Schedule your regular bill payments for a future date. Transfer funds between your linked accounts or to a third party. View and pay your bills online with Bpay View. Update details of the dates and countries you re visiting. Change your PIN on your Travel Money Card, Debit MasterCard, Keycard or Credit Card. Lock and unlock international payments on your Credit Card. Temporarily lock or cancel your credit card. Withdrawing foreign currency You can withdraw foreign currency overseas from an ATM using your Travel Money Card, Debit MasterCard, Keycard or Credit Card. Consider your daily card and transaction limits when spending. These vary depending on the card. Please check product brochures for full details. ATMs in some countries may apply lower transaction limits. Cash withdrawals on your credit cards are treated as a cash advance, and applicable charges will apply. In some countries, you may be asked to sign for your purchase instead of entering your PIN. If you re overseas using your Travel Money Card at a terminal that requires a 6-digit PIN, try using your 4-digit PIN and if it doesn t work, try adding 2 zeros after your PIN. Remember to select the credit option when using your Travel Money Card at merchants and ATMs. Like our credit cards, your Travel Money Card won t work if you select the savings or cheque option. If you want to use foreign currency that you have loaded on your card, make sure you select the correct currency and do not select AUD if given a choice. 7
