3 Logistical information for the SC 7/WG 21 meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, October 29 November 1, 2002 General information Participation Participation in SC 7/WG 21 meeting is open for experts nominated by SC 7 member bodies and to experts of invited international organizations. Business facilities Public telephones will be available at the Conference Centre, SIS. A computer room will be available for delegates use at the Conference Centre. It will be equipped with PCs with Internet and access, as well as printers. Business hours Banks are generally open between 09:00/10:00 and 15:00 on weekdays. Some banks in central Stockholm are open from 09:00 to 17:00. Post Offices are generally open between 09:30 and 18:00 on weekdays and between 10:00 and 13:00 on Saturdays. The Post Office at the Central Station is open from 07:00 to 22:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 19:00 during weekends. Shops are generally open between 10:00 and 18:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturdays, 12:00 to 16:00 on Sundays. Climate and clothing The weather in Stockholm in October may vary, from sunny to rainy days with temperatures at approximately 10 C. You should bring a coat or jacket to accommodate the variances in temperature that may occur. Electricity supply Electrical current in Sweden is 220 V/50 Hz. Round, European-style two-pin plugs are used. Appliances designed to operate on 110/120 Volts need a voltage converter and a plug adapter. First Aid and medical assistance Doctors can be contacted through your hotel or through the ISO registration/information desk. In case of emergency (police, fire brigade and ambulance) dial 112. 5 Arriving and departing By Fast train Arlanda Express ( The train station is situated under terminals 4 and 5. Departures every 15 minutes, with a travelling time of 20 minutes to the Central Station. The fare is SEK 160 (approx. 16 euro). To proceed to SIS from the Central Station, change to one of the underground trains going south, to the station "Slussen", then a 5-min walk takes you to either SIS or the hotels shown on the attached map. By Bus Buses leave both the international and domestic terminals every 10 to 15 minutes and arrive at the city terminal (City Terminalen) at Klarabergsviadukten, next to the Central Railway Station. The trip costs SEK 70 (approx. 7 euro). By Taxi Look for a taxi with a large SEK 350 sign, or ask for fixed price, and the fare should be around SEK 350 (approx. 35 euro). By Bus-Taxi combination A bus-taxi combination package is also available. The bus lets you off by the taxi stand at Cityterminalen and you present your receipt to the taxi driver, who will then take you to your final destination. The cost is SEK 150 (approx. 15 euro) if your destination is within city limits. For SEK 220 (approx. 22 euro the taxi will take you anywhere in the Stockholm area. By Car You approach the city by either the E20 or the E18 highway from the west, or the E4 from the north or south. The roads are clearly marked and well sanded and ploughed during the winter. Signs for downtown read "Centrum". By Train All trains arrive at Stockholm's Central Station (Vasagatan, tel ) in downtown Stockholm. From here, regular commuter trains serve the suburbs and an underground walkway leads to the central underground station. Passport, Visas and Vaccinations A visa to enter Sweden is required for some countries. Please contact the nearest Swedish Consulate or Embassy in your country to check if a visa is required in your case. If a visa is required, you will need a formal invitation from the Conference Organizer. To obtain the formal invitation, please fill out the relevant section in the pre-registration form. Please note that if you wish to participate in tours outside Sweden, you may need a multiple entry visa to Sweden. No special vaccinations are required to enter Sweden from any country.

6 Currency The official currency is the Swedish Krona (SEK). Bank notes come in 1 000, 500, 100, 50 and 20 denominations; coins come in 10, 5, 1 and 0,50 denominations. Exchange rates at the time of printing: USD 1 = SEK 9,50 EUR 1 = SEK 9,30 Foreign currency and travellers cheques can be exchanged at any bank at the airport and in most large hotels. Most major credit cards are accepted in the majority of hotels, restaurants and shops. NOTE: Sweden is not part of the Euro zone Information about Stockholm
