Employment Chief Software Architect ( Present) Aagard hired me to redefine how the automated machinery industry controls motion. I put together a development team that successfully created a Model-Driven, Real-Time Machinery Controls development system that took the cycle-time from 16 milliseconds to 250 microseconds with the same functionality on the same machine and could be programmed by a person with no programming experience. I also served as interim electrical engineering manager for one year and instituted a UML design methodology, unit testing and Behavior Driven Development to cut development time for one product line by 50%. I managed a group of over 20 technical people with a budget over one million dollars. For the last 15 months I managed the requirements definition and design of a Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 implementation that included significant customization and integration with our CAD system. Consultant ( ) Aagard hired me as a consultant to help them implement some best-practices with their Machine Controls development. I helped implement change management, revision control and peer reviews. I also helped design and implement a new framework for their machinery systems software. In addition I helped architect a proof-of-concept application to replace their off-the-shelf, real-time, motion-control application. Consultant ( ) Dairlyand Healthcare Solutions Glenwood, Minnesota Dairyland hired me as a consultant to help with their on-going transition from a green screen, UNIX application to a Client/Server, Java-based, Windows application. To accomplish this I worked with the president to develop an organizational structure that helped transform the company from a software implementation and maintenance organization to a software development organization. I also provided the architectural design and some of the development for their single sign-on and multi-desktop management application. Dairyland offered me a full-time position as VP of software development that I declined.

The software development efforts were real-time, market related, client/server applications developed in C++ using Microsoft Visual Developer Studio with MFC, ATL, COM/DCOM and STL. These applications were deployed on an internally installed and managed wide-area network (WAN) and a Windows NT based local area network. The networks included a satellite data feed, two frame relay connections, a T1 internet connection that supported Multicast. I helped design the customization, integration and data migration software as part of a Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 ERP implemenation for an Engineer to Order manufacturing company with integration to CAD system and automated CNC mills for Manufacturing Execution. Real-time motion control system. I was the chief architect and project lead for a Modeldriven, object oriented, real-time motion control system that could be used to develop the machinery control software and execute it in a declarative, event-driven manner while maintaining the deterministic, hard real-time constraints. This R&D project successfully controlled a machine with 120 devices, 93 points of I/O and 23 Servo Drives with an average cycle time of 228 microseconds and a maximum time of 746 microseconds. (C++ and C#) Real-time monitoring system. I designed and developed an object oriented, event driven communications protocol with high-speed throughput for monitoring real-time applications. (C++ with.net application adapter) Human Machine Interface for machinery control. (C#) Real-Time data evaluation system. I designed and developed a system for screening all quotes and transaction for all equities and equity options on all exchanges in the U.S. Using C++, MFC, ATL, COM/DCOM. Data acquisition system. This system was written in C++ as an MFC application. It integrated with an Allen-Bradley PLC and collected data regarding the weight and lot information for cheese blocks as they were being packaged. It stored the information in a database and also communicated the information to a label printing system via an RS232 port. Internet order processing system. This system, written in C++ using MFC was a client polling system. It was used by a fulfillment center to poll a server over the Internet for any orders that had been entered. It then placed the delivery information into a shipping system to label and track the shipment. The shipment information, including the tracking number was then returned to the order server via the Internet. Simple Components A CAD and manufacturing system integration for Microcadam, Helix. This was a thrid-party add-on software package for the Helix CAD system. Written in C++ it was a set of Extension DLLs for MFC. Custom CNC application. This application integrated with Simple Components and would allow the user to generate CNC code for the component directly from the CAD application. Custom bill of material package. Written in Visual Foxpro and C++ this application provided a front-end for engineers to manage bills of material prior to certifying them. It integrated with the CAD system and with the manufacturing system. Bill of material configuration management system. This add-on to Macola helped customers manage configurable bills of material. It provided the flexibility the Macola Bill of Material module didn t have. It was written in C, used Btrieve and integrated with Macola. Sales deposit management system. This system, written in C and using Btrieve data files,

4 integrated with Macola to provide a means for management of sales deposits for orders entered into the order entry system.

5 Simple Patronage A patronage dividend management system. This software package was written in C as an add-on to the Redwing Accounting system. It calculated patronage dividends and managed the accumulation and payment of the dividends. Process Improvement. I managed an engineering process improvement project for Dresser-Rand Corporation in Tulsa, OK. This project involved the implementation of the Simple Components software and integration with their in-house COBOL based manufacturing application. Successful implementation of several MRP projects using Macola manufacturing software. Other Points of Interest References My family is one of my greatest interests.
