1 Career and Technology Education Programs The Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs are a sequence of courses in a specified career pathway, requiring a minimum of four credits. Students who complete a CTE program in most career pathways are eligible for articulated community college credit. BCPS Magnet Transportation Information: (Southeast Area) All programs at Sollers Point are half-day. Transportation is only provided for students who will also attend Chesapeake, Dundalk, Kenwood, Overlea, Patapsco, or Sparrows Point High School. Unforeseen Illness or Emergency: Parent(s) must inform BOTH the school and Magnet Office immediately if the applicant cannot attend or complete the scheduled due to an unforeseen illness or emergency. Applicants for Construction Management, Diesel Truck & Power Systems, and Information Technology Networking will be selected by random lottery only. Prior to the Assessment This MUST be completed prior to coming to the audition. Complete the Applicant Self-Evaluation form included with these guidelines. (pp. 4-12) Prior to attending the, applicants may want to review: Math Concepts: basic operations with fractions, solving equations, writing equations of lines, and analyzing simple lab results. Applicants will take a multiple-choice test that focuses on basic concepts in science, math, and communication skills relating to the health care field. Math/Science Test (2 ): Students will take an in all of the subject areas. Skills evaluated will include the solution of word problems, basic knowledge of fractions and percents, standard math operations, and basic science concepts. (See page 6 for practice information.) Interview (2 ): Students are evaluated on their ability to respond to interview questions in a polite manner, giving answers that are complete and well explained without prompting from the interviewer. Questions are focused on the student s interests in academy of health professions as a professional goal and on the candidate s ability to work collaboratively with others. Automotive Service Technology: Students will need to bring two #2 pencils to take the. Applicants will complete a personal interview and a practical. Questions are focused on the student s interests in cosmetology as a professional goal and on the candidate s ability to work collaboratively with others. Practical Assessment (2 ): Students will be asked to complete a series of tasks.
