4 Wintrust SBA Market Position Wintrust currently is the #2 SBA lender in the State of Illinois. Wintrust is the #1 lender in the Illinois Advantage Loan Program. The SBA loan volume in Illinois is up over 25% during the last six months over previous year. The vast majority of the increase is in the SBA 7a product. The SBA 504 product is only up 5% over last year. 4
5 Wintrust SBA Loans SBA loans are made to businesses for the purposes of improving the business. The business must be for profit enterprise and the principal shareholder must be a US citizen or resident alien. What is a small business? Manufacturer with less than 500 employees. Distributor with less than 100 employees. Companies with net worth of less than $15 million and after tax net income of less than $5 million (two year average). What are some of the eligible uses of loan proceeds? Purchase owner occupied real estate and/ or equipment. Partner buyout must purchase 100% of seller s shares. Debt Refinance 10% monthly cost savings, balloon notes qualify. Leasehold improvements. 5
6 SBA Express Program The SBA Express Program is a small business loan product. With the SBA backing, the small business has more access to growth capital. At Wintrust, this product is best suited for businesses with the profile below: Sales size from $500,000 to $2MM. In business two years, strong management, solid business model. Good cash flow of business of 1.25 for most recent year end or trailing twelve months. Good global cash flow including guarantors and affiliates. Guarantors must have clear credit history. 7 year amortization on soft assets. 10 year amortization for equipment purchases. 25 year amortization on real estate purchases and refinances. Wintrust average SBA Express loan size $175,000. 6
7 Wintrust SBA Express Loans Purpose: SBA Express Loans helps businesses expand their business, purchase another company and manage their cash flow. Loan Amount: $50,000 - $350,000 Guarantees: SBA provides a 50% guarantee Terms: Working Capital (up to 7 years), Equipment (up to 10 years) and Owner Occupied Real Estate (up to 25 years). All term loans will be fully amortizing. Interest Rate: Wintrust offers competitive rates on SBA Express loans. Rates can be either fixed for 5 years with an adjustments or floating. Bank and SBA Fees: Approximately 3% of the loan amount. 7
8 SBA CAP Line of Credit Lines of credit ranging from $1MM to $5MM SBA provides a 75% guaranty SBA fess are ¼% on lines less than 12 months. If renewed or the original maturity greater than 12 months, %. Once larger fee is paid, the bank can renew/ extend maturity up to ten years. Standard bank advance rates apply. Customer concentration limits may apply. Monthly borrowing base is required. Personal guaranty required on principals with 20% or more ownership. Field Audits are required. No start ups (SBA rule) Best used for young companies or heavily reliant on inventory. 8
9 SBA Other Loan Programs Other SBA Loan Products SBA 7a Loans (75% Guarantee) - Loan amounts: $350,000 to $5,000,000 - Other terms similar to Express loan SBA 504 Loans - Loan amounts: $500,000 to $9,000,000 - Provide financing to acquire real estate or equipment with only a 10% down payment and attractive interest rates. SBA Micro Loans - Loan amounts: Under $50,000 - Provide financing for working capital, inventory, furniture, fixture and equipment. - Accion Chicago is the largest Micro Loan Lender in Illinois. 9
10 Illinois Advantage Loan Program The Illinois Advantage Loan Program is federally funded via Federal Stimulus money in 2009 and is administered by the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity. The funds are for the purpose of job creation and/ or job retention within the state. The debt must be new financing to the bank. The State purchases a subordinated participation in the bank s loan commitment. The State s involvement can potentially lower the customers rate up to 100 basis points. The State buy rate is 2% below the note rate. The State does not charge a fee. Wintrust handles all loan servicing with clients. 10
11 Illinois Advantage Loan Program Participation amounts can not exceed: 25% of total financing package (including debt and equity) 50% of participated note (specific loan/note) $2,000,000 $25,000 per FTE (New or at risk jobs) The program is best utilized for growing companies with a collateral shortfall. Examples to follow. Loan must be fully funded prior to the State buying their participation. Wintrust has an excellent working relationship with the State on this program which makes this a more efficient process. 11
