Jul 09 Business Plan Creation Process Business Planning DNS Associates
Business Plan Guidelines Every business can benefit from the preparation of a carefully written business plan. The purpose of the business plan is to Help you think through the venture and ensure you have considered all your options and anticipated any potential difficulties Convince lenders and investors that you are in control of the project and that their money will be safe with you Serve as an operating guide as you turn your idea into a viable business Furnish a standard against which to judge future business decisions and results
Business Plan Creation The business plan is created to suit particular business needs and the audience for which it is being created. The primary reason for writing business plan is to raise capital and that capital could be raised by two types of people one is through banks as loan and the other one is through investors as equity. DNS Associates keeps the audience in mind and focus on needs by these differenct capital raising efforts very clearly. Following are the requirements for different types of capital providers Bankers Bankers want assurance of orderly payments hence we include the following: o Amount of loan o How will the funds be used o What will this accomplish o Repayment terms o Cash Flow statement o Collateral offered if required Investors They are looking for dramatic growth and hence the share in those rewards. Keeping this in mind we include the following: o Funds needed o How will company use the funds o What is expected return on investment o Exit Strategy
o Percent of ownership offered to investors o Financial Reporting Apart from these specific requirements, some general pieces form part of every business case. Similarly there are separate elements which are included based on the type of business like manufacturing, service or high technology.
Business Plan Creation Process DNS follows a very simple process of collaboration while creating the business plan. Business plan always remains the property of the client and is the biggest contributor and benefactor of this business plan. The business plan creation has two major steps Information gathering and putting insight into words. Client collaboration is very important in the first step as that forms the basis for the whole business plan. Without proper information, it is not easy to prepare a good product. Hence we always request clients to collaborate on this project and take this as their own project. We at DNS understand how important clients time is and that is the reason we try to keep the face to face meeting to minimum possible and we try and get as much information as possible through mails. We propose to meet the client 3 times First initial kick off meeting, second meeting for financials and third for plan delivery and get the feedback. In the event of client not able to find time we do bring the number down to 1 but we always recommend that we meet at least once. We use special templates for information gathering and it is normally collected in 3 stages. First stage will collect very basic information with regards to company s current operations, management, business description, products, markets, brief financials and strategy. Second stage would entail more detailed information related to company, management CVs, Financials, competition, market, partners and sales strategy etc. Third and the final stage is the adhoc information which is necessary and is missing from the data sheets. DNS will provide the template for information and it is requested from the clients to provide as much as detailed information as possible. The business plan rests completely on this information provided by the client and we request that client gives due importance to these data sheets. Data sheets are provided on the agreement of the contract as these are proprietary Intellectual Property of the company
We look forward to working with the client and provide with our exceptional and pragmatic services. Please get in touch with Sumit Agarwal, DNS Associates for any further information.
