They will learn the basics of marketing, sales, ethics, law, management, finance/accounting, human resources, and entrepreneurship. In this course students will learn the basics needed to plan and launch their own business. This course will provide students with the core skills they need to become successful. In this course students will study the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs. Students will also learn about self employment and basic economic concepts related to small businesses, such as competition and production. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Students will use Multi Media to create various projects throughout the year. COURSE CONTENT: This course will allow students to use their skills to create various projects throughout the year using Pinnacle Studio Software. Projects will include but are not limited to: music videos, commercials, motivational videos, public service announcements, still picture projects, marketing videos, and a weekly newscast. Students can also expect to use various types of electronic equipment including: camcorders, digital cameras, DSLR Cameras, voice capturing software, and a variety of other equipment used to create multimedia projects. Students in this class will lead by example and they will learn various characteristic of leadership. Students will be exposed to business leaders within the community, as well as various other organizational leaders who provide valuable information to students wanting to learn about leadership. Students can expect to be involved with community outreach programs, doing community service during the school day, tutoring at the lower grade levels, visiting businesses and community organizations, as well as developing an end of the year service project. Students who see themselves as future leaders of our society are highly encouraged to take this class as they will learn, and they will be exposed to critical leadership characteristics. Students will learn how to create, modify, and format word processing; spreadsheet; and graphics presentation documents. The course will also focus on computer skills and business aspects of real life (contracting with a publishing company). The ultimate goal of the course is to produce and finance a high quality yearbook without going over budget. COURSE CONTENT: Students will be involved in every aspect of producing a yearbook. Students will sell ads, design layouts, write captions, copy, and headlines, and take pictures. Most work will be done on computer. COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Students must meet all page and ad sales deadlines. Students must be willing to put in the time necessary to complete assignments. UPDATED
