2 Mechanical Engineering is a dynamic industry that requires people with a thorough understanding of mechanics and specialist knowledge. The INTEC courses will give you the theoretical knowledge, practical application and management skills to enter and succeed in the world of mechanical engineering. With basic training in mechanical engineering, you open up opportunities to specialise in a range of fields from transportation and mining, to environment engineering, air conditioning, manufacturing and industrial engineering. INTEC offers three types of programmes, namely National Qualifications, Provider Programmes, and Agent Programmes: National Qualifications are credit bearing qualifications registered on the NQF and accredited by a Quality Assurance Body. Provider Programmes are unique to INTEC and are designed to increase and enhance your skills and knowledge within your chosen field. Agent Programmes are programmes and qualifications for which INTEC offers tuition, but where INTEC does not issue the final certificate (the agent body issues the final certificate). 3 Mechanical Engineering Introduction to Mechanical Engineering - Certificate This certificate course was created for you should you not meet the entrance requirements for Basic Mechanical Enginering - Certificate The Introduction to Mechanical Engineering programme is a Provider Programme. Entrance requirement: Grade 9 (Std. 7) Course Duration: You should be able to complete this course within 6 to 12 months. Course content Intensive Communication Skills Bench Work Arc Welding Introduction to Mathematics Introduction to Engineering Drawing Engineering Science Mechanical Engineering Technology Assessment You are required to complete and submit your assignments to the College for marking. Award On successful completion you will receive your INTEC Certificate in Introduction to Mechanical Engineering.

4 Mechanical Engineering Basic Mechanical Engineering - Certificate Entrance Requirements Grade 10 (Std. 8) with Technical Drawing and Mathematics / Physical Science / N2 with Engineering Drawing / Introduction to Mechanical Engineering. The Basic Mechanical Engineering programme is a Provider Programme. Course Duration You should be able to complete this course within 6 to 12 months. Course Content Basic Mechanical Engineering Bench Work Measuring Instruments Lathes Formulas and Equations Arc Welding Workshop Processes and Equipment Intensive Communications Skills First Aid and Safety Mathematics Assessment You are required to complete and submit your assignments to the College for marking. Award On successful completion you will receive your INTEC Certificate in Basic Mechanical Engineering.

5 Air Conditioning and Refrigeration The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Certificate course includes valuable supplements on First Aid and Safety, as well as Heaters and Fans. Introduction to Air Conditioning and Refrigeration - Certificate Entrance Requirements Grade 10 (Std. 8) or Engineering Drawing N1 and Engineering Drawing N2. Should you not meet the minimum entrance requirements and have 2 years relevant work experience, please contact the nearest INTEC branch to apply for possible access. The Introduction to Air Conditioning and Refrigeration programme is a Provider Programme. Course Duration You should be able to complete this course within 6 to 12 months. Course Content Introduction to Air Conditioning Formulas and Equations Communication skills First Aid and Safety Heaters and Fans Repairing Refrigerators and Air Conditioners Assessment You are required to complete and submit your assignments to the College for marking.
