2 1 Tomcat Java Configuration This section walks through the steps required to configure the Tomcat memory pool. 1. Stop the Apache Tomcat Windows service 2. Navigate to $TOMCAT_INSTALLATION_PATH\bin and execute tomcat5w.exe to open the "Apache Tomcat Properties" dialog 3. Select the "Java" tab: Set the "Initial memory pool" to 128 Set the "Maximum memory pool" to Click "OK" 5. Start the Apache Tomcat Windows service Page 2

3 2 Web Server Configuration This section walks through the steps required to setup Web Access to the MicroStrategy projects. 1. Stop the Apache Tomcat Windows service 2. Copy the file $MICROSTRATEGY_INSTALLATION_PATH\Web JSP \MicroStrategy.war to $TOMCAT_INSTALLATION_PATH\webapps 3. Navigate to $TOMCAT_INSTALLATION_PATH\bin and execute tomcat5.exe to deploy MicroStrategy.war 4. After the Tomcat server startup completes, close the "$TOMCAT_INSTALLATION_PATH\bin\tomcat5.exe" window and start the Apache Tomcat Windows service. 5. Open an Internet Explorer window on the server hosting the MicroStrategy Web Server Page 3

4 6. Navigate to Note: Knoa recommends using port 8090 for Tomcat 7. Select Web Administrator and input a user name and password of a Tomcat administrator into the Tomcat authentication dialog. Note: The default Tomcat administrator account is 'admin' with a blank password. If this login does not work, please check $TOMCAT_INSTALLATION_PATH\conf\tomcat-users.xml to see which user is defined. 8. Enter the name of the server hosting the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server and press Add On the "Server properties" screen, select Automatically connect to Intelligence Server when Web Server or Intelligence Server is restarted and press Save. Select "Intelligence Servers > Default properties" from the "WEB SERVER" menu and set the following defaults: Set "Connection mode" to Automatically connect to Intelligence Server when Web Server or Intelligence Server is restarted Set "Project list" to Log in, then show the projects accessible by the supplied login 11. Select "MicroStrategy Office" from the "WEB SERVER" menu and uncheck Show link to installation page for all users on the Projects and Login pages. 12. The MicroStrategy Web Server is now configured. You will be able to login to the MicroStrategy Web tool once the Additional Knoa Configurations are complete. Page 5

6 2.1 Knoa Skin and Custom Icons 1. Copy the "Knoa" folder from the install package to $TOMCAT_INSTALLATION_PATH \webapps\microstrategy\plugins on the web server 2. Copy the "Knoa Images" folder from the install package to $TOMCAT_INSTALLATION_PATH\webapps\MicroStrategy\images on the web server 3. Copy the "Knoa Images" folder from the install package to $MICROSTRATEGY_INSTALLATION_PATH\Intelligence Server\images on the Intelligence Server 4. Restart the web server 5. Log into the "Knoa" project source and select "Configure MicroStrategy Intelligence Server" from the Administration > Server menu 6. Select "Projects" from the "Categories" list and verify that the Knoa project is checked. 7. Log into MicroStrategy Web as an administrator ( [port]/microstrategy/servlet/mstrweb) 8. Navigate to the Preferences section Page 6

7 9. Click Project Defaults on the left 10. Scroll to the bottom and click Apply 2.2 Set "Knoa Home" as the Home Page 1. Log into MicroStrategy Web as an administrator 2. Open the Knoa project 3. Navigate to Shared Reports > Analysis Tools Page 7

8 4. Run the "Knoa Home" document 5. Restore normal screen mode by clicking the "Restore Normal Screen Mode" icon ( ) in the toolbar Page 8

9 6. While viewing the document, click Preferences 7. Click "Project Defaults" in Preferences Level and "General" in Preferences on the left-hand panel of the Preferences screen 1. In "Default Start Page", click "Last document: Knoa Home" 2. In "Object Management" at the bottom of the preferences screen, select "Apply to current project (EUI v7.x.x)" and click Apply Page 9

10 8. Click Close to exit Preference screen 2.3 Configure Drill Mode 1. In the Preferences screen, click "Project Defaults" under Preferences Level and "Drill mode" under Preferences 2. In "Common Drill Preferences", select "Disable hyperlink drilling" 3. In "Report Services Drill Preferences", select "Disable all drilling" for Drill options 4. Select "Apply to current project (EUI v7.x.x)" and click Apply 5. Click Close to exit Preferences screen Page 10
