1 Installation Guide Medtech Fax Solution (for Windows 7 and later) (June 2014) IMPORTANT NOTE Medtech recommends that all Medtech upgrades and database back-up and restore processes are performed by a Medtech Certified Engineer or your Practice Technician. 3 Installation Pre-Requisites Checklist 1. Operating System: Any Windows operating system which support Windows Fax and Scan (WFS). o E.g.: Windows 7 and Windows A dedicated modem with a telephone line to the Medtech32 Fax solutions server 3. Medtech32 Version 20.11build MedTech32 Faxing License registration 5. You are logged onto the machine with full administrative rights. 6. The Release Notes and Installation Instructions have been reviewed and are understood. Location of Installer 1. Visit our website at 2. Select New Zealand in the region drop down (top right hand side of the window). 3. Select menu, Support Medtech32 Downloads. The New Zealand Medtech32 Downloads page will be displayed. 4. Locate the upgrade called MedTech32 Fax installer (June 2014) in the list. 5. Download the installer ( MedtechFax.EXE ). Copyright Medtech Limited Page 3 of 9

4 MedTech Fax Installation 1. Ensure that you have downloaded and installed MedTech32 Version 20.11Build Downloaded the MedTech Fax installer as described as above 3. Double click on the upgrade EXE to start the installation process 4. The installation process will commence 5. The SQL Utility will be run 6. 5 7. The Audit screen will appear and execution will be done automatically. 8. Once the installation is complete, the following message will be displayed: Post Installation Configuration 1. After successful installation, Medtech32 Fax component will be installed in below folders For 32 Bit machines - C:\Program Files\MedtechFax For 64 Bit machines - C:\Program Files (x86)\medtechfax 2. Ensure the computer installed with MedtechFaxServices service is connected with Modem and the telephone line contains inbuilt windows fax and scan (WFS)and able to send Fax just by WFS manually 3. MedTech Fax services has to be logged in with the local system credentials Right click Medtech Fax Services -> properties -> Logon ->This account -> enter the local PC s windows login credentials or any PC s windows credentials in the network (preferably administrator). The windows login account should have a password. The account with a blank password will not work 6. Click Start -> All programs -> Windows Fax and Scan to bring up the Windows Fax and Scan (WFS) Copyright Medtech Limited Page 6 of 9

7 7. In the Windows Fax and Scan window, click on the Tools menu Fax Accounts to bring up the Fax Accounts window, to configure a fax account 8. In the Fax Accounts window, Click Add button to bring up the Fax Setup window to add the fax account to WFS Copyright Medtech Limited Page 7 of 9

8 9. Click Connect to a fax modem and follow the on screen instructions to finish this setup. 10. If you are using a PBX (Private Business Exchange), the fax number should have the respective prefix for WFS to send them out Eg or Recommendations 1. MedTech Fax installer will more than likely NOT be installed on Medtech server and should be installed on a physical computer that has the fax machine connected to it 2. You must look at MedTech faxes status from within MedTech application only. 3. Medtech Fax will only deal with the DEFAULT WFS fax 4. Windows Fax and Scan should be capable of sending faxes on its own 5. The login account for MedTech Fax services should be either the local PC s windows login account or the administrator s Copyright Medtech Limited Page 8 of 9
