2 Christian Ministry Training Award (CMTA) STUDY OPTIONS The Christian Ministry Training Award is specifically designed as a part-time program and all of the classes are normally held off-campus. The units have been designed for maximum flexibility. They are offered in an intensive format, with the lectures, tutorials and course work being delivered in a variety of ways to suit local church needs. These flexible delivery options make this program accessible to students in a variety of circumstances. Depending on the number of units available locally to the student, completing the whole program would normally require a minimum of three years study. There are currently no upper limits on the length of study. ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS There are no entry requirements for the Christian Ministry Training Award imposed by the College. It is a program that is designed to be open to all who wish to be better equipped to serve in their local church. PROGRAM ACCREDITATION The Christian Ministry Training Award is not accredited by any government agency, but is recognised by the Church of the Nazarene. Any credits earned in this program are not transferable to any accredited college program. Students are not eligible for AUSTUDY or FEE-Help.

3 The course is not registered with CRICOS and is not available to overseas students. Successful completion of the named 24 units validated by the International Course of Study Advisory Committee may satisfy the minimum educational requirements for ordination in the Church of the Nazarene. PROGRAM OUTLINE The study program is organised in three levels with eight units in each level. After the student has completed each level, an award is presented. In order to graduate from the full program of study, twenty-four units must be taken. Nine main study areas are available, but three main areas are Biblical Studies, Theology, and Pastoral Theology & Practice. The units may be studied in any order as each one is selfcontained. However, the college may suggest that certain units are best studied in a sequence. CURRENT COURSE OFFERINGS The courses currently offered as part of the program are listed below. Since the courses are constantly being evaluated in response to needs in our local churches, the exact list will vary as new ones are added and some are deleted. BIBLICAL STUDIES Old Testament Introduction; New Testament Introduction; Biblical Hermeneutics; Old Testament Historical Books; Old Testament Prophets; Synoptic Gospels; Johannine Literature; Pauline Epistles; Hebrews & General Epistles; Corinthian Correspondence; Pentateuch; Wisdom Literature; Acts; Ministry Insights from Corinthians. CHRISTIAN ETHICS Ethical Issues in Contemporary Life

4 CHURCH HISTORY Church History 1 & 2; History of the Wesleyan-Holiness Movement; Early Church and Culture. LITURGICAL STUDIES Introduction to Christian Worship; Homiletics; Communicating the Doctrine of Sanctification. MISSIOLOGY Church in Australian & New Zealand Society; Cross- Cultural Ministry; World Religions. PASTORAL THEOLOGY AND PRACTICE Spiritual Leadership; Evangelism; Interpersonal Communication; Introduction to Christian Education; Supervised Ministry Experience A; Developing Youth Ministries; Pastoral Theology; Supervised Ministry Experience B; Faith Formation in Congregations; Contemporary Leadership. CHRISTIAN SPIRITUALITY Foundations of Christian Spirituality. 5 Equipping today s disciples Christian Community Training PROGRAM OUTLINE Christian Community Training is an initiative of Nazarene Theology College, Brisbane to provide lay training for the Church of the Nazarene and interested participants from the broader Christian Community. CCT classes are run at a variety of locations (including our Brisbane campus) and can be run in your local church or community. Classes available include the regular classes taught at the college as well as those specifically arranged and tailored to meet the needs of your local church community. Classes are taught by the college faculty.
